CONSPICUOUS DETAILS

I gave the book the title ‘The garden of memory’, because visiting Poland and Auschwitz wasn’t just a sad experience; it also created seeds to grow. For my dad and I, it created an opportunity to grow closer, because he was a political and social scientist specialised in World War II. During our visit he was able to share his fascination and interest with me. Additionally, the whole shared experience of the group, collectively feeling the tragedy that’s marked Poland’s history and is still tangibly lingering in every corner of Auschwitz, also created true, heartfelt connection between all the delegate-members. Even though the reason we were there was sorrowful, it was also the beginning of many beautiful relationships between everyone present.
