Petar & Julia’s Travel; We chose this personal name (names of the children of the founder of Petar & Julia’s Travel) because not only do children inspire, but children see everything in a new, frank, intuitive, spontaneous way. Children always discover new things.
When I looked for this concept in the art scene I found the art movement ‘Primitivism’. Primitivism is a movement in which artists (the primitivists) strive to return to the era before modern civilization, to the primitive, when everything was still ‘unspoiled, simple and original’; It is frank, intuitive, spontaneous, expressive, bright, exotic, colourful and not artificial. Petar & Julia’s Travel wants to bring the traveler closer to the local culture to enjoy a holiday different from the hectic style of package tours.
The typography is a bit hidden behind the leaves of the tree. The perfect concept for a travel agency, because as a tourist you always want to discover the hidden gems. And usual you can find these hidden gems by or at locals or in nature.
I wanted a beautiful ampersand. I found a typeface Domani CP that had the ampersand that I needed. Also is the typeface a bold and modern but classic font. The ampersand connects the name Petar & Julia. Also here is ‘t’ and the ‘i’ a bit hidden behind the ampersand. Like the concept of the design.
About the print: I wanted to make a print that I can use on anything of the branding of Petar & Julia’s Travel. Palm leaves in print are very popular these days. But I wanted to use a plant that had a connection with Croatia and the things you offer as a travel agency. When I searched for the symbolism of sage, I found that the symbolism is perfect to use. It means as noun: ‘Wise man/woman, learned man/woman, man/woman of letters, philosopher, scholar, thinker, savant, Solomon, Nestor, Solon.’ I loved the term philosopher and thinker.
