INSPIRATIONAL FLOW
My client Morwenna Minguel-Meijer is the founder of Olympia Curaçao Archery Association. It is an archery school in Curaçao, where you can practise the sport of archery both competitively and recreationally.
My client is fond of the Greek mythology and especially by Artemis. Who is Artemis? Artemis belongs to the twelve Olympians who resided on Mount Olympus. Artemis is in the Greek mythology the Goddess of the hunt and the moon. Her symbols include a silver bow and arrow, a hunting dog, a stag and the moon. This inspiration I used for creating the logo.
For the main logo I used a classic font combined with a modern font style. The ‘O’ of Olympia is cut in half and tilted as Artemis keeps her bow. This is combined with the shaft of the arrow. This shaft is repeated in the ‘A’.
When Artemis hunts she uses silver arrows and she never miss. 🙂 For the colours I used silver and black. These colours blend in the inspiration; silver arrows from Artemis and the moon who shines the brightest when it is dark (black).
CONSPICUOUS DETAILS
I also made an emblem for the school. This is inspired by Apollo (the twin brother of Artemis). Apollo is shown with a laurel wreath on his head. In became classical antiquity laurel wreaths bestowed on winners, both winners in athletics as it was at the time was practiced, like the people in poetic encounters. In Rome they had a symbolism which had to do with it overcome an enemy by a successful commander during his triumphal march, Corona Triumphalis. I used this Corona Triumphalis for the emblem.
