INSPIRATIONAL FLOW

Lisette Mierop asked me to create a logo for her company LM. Lisette is a story teller, a strategic communications consultant and project manager. Lisette is good at rethinking the company's identity and strategy without ignoring its origins. Furthermore, the preliminary interview revealed that she is a big fan of Art Nouveau.

Researching Art Nouveau, I came across the Austrian variant Wiener Secession. The hallmark of the Wiener Secession was the recognition that modernism could go well with the ideals of classical art. So making something new, but without throwing away the heritage. Couldn't be a better match. 🙂 The Wiener Secession mainly used geometric forms, unlike Art Nouveau which used more ornamentation in their art.

It was common in the Wiener Secession era to make a monogram of your name. I also did this with the letters L/M. I gave the the letter 'M' rounded arches, as you see a lot in architecture, to give it a friendlier look.
